Lusk is a tiny town in nowhere Wyoming. There are no chain grocery stores and the only chain restaurant we saw was Subway. Depending on how you look at things you could either call it quaint or old. I personally like "quaint".
Triangle 4 Cafe & Steakhouse is quaint. Not much to look at from the outside, but once you go in, it's warm and welcoming. We are in town for HS basketball games and decided to stop in for breakfast. I ordered a 3-egg Western Omelet (ham, peppers, onion and cheese). It came with hashbrowns and toast for $7.75. My husband ordered the breakfast special, 2 eggs, 2 pancakes, 2 sausage, 2 bacon for $5.95. I got iced tea with lemon. They brought out a packet of lemon juice, which was just fine. They have good ice. The kind with the hole in the middle that kindof melts when you crunch it. ;) It's the little things you know.... The tea was really good. My husband had coffee and water.
Both meals were cooked perfectly. Not one complaint with the food.
Our waitress was an older lady who seated us quickly and was super nice, someones Grandma I'm sure. Service was fast and we didn't have to wait but maybe 10 minutes before our food came out.
If you're ever through Lusk, Wyoming, I highly recommend the Triangle 4 Cafe & Steakhouse. Maybe next time I will have room for some pie!! -

So I was trying to call the Yellowstone Backcountry Ranger Office, dialed the wrong phone number by one digit, and got this place. Some really nice guy picked up, and I asked whether he had a second to give me a few recommendations on multi-day hikes in the park?
He goes, "Umm... yeah... I guess I can do that. Let me check and make sure there aren't any customers in front." I was a little confused why a backcountry ranger seemed so surprised to get questions on the backcountry, but hey it's March maybe it's just a slow season.
So I started asking really specific questions about trailheads and hiking terrain. He gave me some honest, but kind of vague recommendations, and I was a little disappointed that he didn't seem familiar with the Heart Lake or Snake River Trailheads. "I'm really sorry, but I honestly don't think I've been down that way in probably 15 years." In my head, I'm wondering how this guy got hired as a ranger and what he's been up to for the last 15 years. He also kept putting me on hold to handle customers, which was kind of weird given that I don't think they sell anything at the ranger station.
Eventually, it became pretty clear I wasn't talking to someone who works in Yellowstone for a living, especially when he recommended I call the visitor's center because "They just spend a ton of time there and would know all the trails really well". So I apologized, but asked who I was speaking to? It was not the Yellowstone Backcountry Ranger Office but instead the Triangle 4 Cafe & Steakhouse.
What restaurant employee causally picks up the phone and patiently tries to answer intensely bizarre questions like these? Apparently this guy. I was completely convinced for an embarrassingly long time that I was talking to a weirdly inexperienced park ranger. I don't know if that reflects badly on me or positively on him, but I'd give him a 10/5 for customer service. -

Wow! 12 oz ribeye for $12.95 cooked to perfection. Frozen veggies side only thing keeping it from 5 stars. That and the iceberg lettuce. If you're looking for fabulous steak this is your place. Authentic rancher cuisine!

We stopped in for lunch between Mt. Rushmore and Cheyenne and it was fantastic homemade food. It is not fast food, it's good food.

Cute and friendly with a Cowboy Christmas decor. We were headed from Rapid City, South Dakota and Mount Rushmore to Estes Park, Colorado and there are not many options for food along the way. This was a perfect place for a burger or or lunch plate and great service plus cute Christmas decor and down home conversations.
Be sure to check out the wanted posters along the walls where the bathrooms are located. I think it would be lively and fun on the weekends.
